Photograph of a Jewish saddle maker in Inezgane, Morocco making donkey saddles. Aaron Itidghi was one of the last Jewish craftsmen and artisans in North Africa, which was home to many Sephardic Jews. He was born in Ifrane de l' Anti-Atlas, Morocco. He makes colorful saddles for donkeys out of burlap, canvas, wool, leather, straw, and string. He learned the trade from his uncle. Morocco had one of the largest Jewish communities in the North Africa Jewish diaspora with 18,000 Jews in 1950. Photograph by Nathan Benn taken on February 15, 1980 when Mr. Itidghi was 58 years old.
